Nature Inside and Out

2019

A reminder of the vigor of nature.

The mirror hanging in this green room is decorated with coral and pale yellow cut flowers from the garden outside the window. A gardener, represented by the watering can and the red boots, tends the plants. But nature resists efforts to contain it, forcing its way in through the window.

The chair is a miniature of an iconic chair designed by Charles Rennie MacIntosh, an influential Scottish architect of the late 19th/early 20th century. The mirror is framed by a segment of a necklace designed using semiprecious stones (peridot and citrine), freshwater pearls, and Murano glass. Additional materials include paint, paper, wood, dollhouse miniatures and trimmings from artificial flowers and turf.

Custom framed with museum glass in a sophisticated deep wooden frame in collaboration with Chevy Chase Art Gallery, Washington, DC.

Price: USD 2,500.
