In this surreal scene, a tailor’s world gives way: velvet feeding through the sewing machine transforms into a deep-blue ocean, and the tailor dives beneath the surface.
 
A necklace segment of lapis lazuli, citrine, cobalt Murano glass, and bright-white freshwater pearls does double duty — edging the fabric and drawing the boundary between imagination and everyday life. Found elements — sand and shells from Assateague Island, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia — complete the dreamlike seascape and ground it in tactile, coastal detail.
