New Neighbors

Mixed Media Assemblage | 13 x 22 x 4 inches | Custom Framed

An ecological vignette that draws a parallel between gentrification and deforestation — each displacing long-time residents.

At the forest’s edge, a trio of gray wolves face a stand of tree stumps — telltale signs of human encroachment: urban development, agricultural land clearing, and timber harvesting.

A necklace segment in forest greens and burgundy — Murano glass, freshwater pearls, and semi-precious stones — blends into the woodland palette. An incongruous detail — a stack of money atop a stump — nods to the economic forces that propel change.

Lyrical yet eco-conscious, New Neighbors invites reflection on urban wildlife, habitat loss, deforestation, and the costs of “progress.
