A Seat at the Table honors all those serving in segregated units during World War II while speaking more broadly to those who are seen, included, and remembered in American history.
 
At its center, the Tarot Death card is reinterpreted not as an ending, but as a symbol of transformation and resilience. A winning hand of playing cards signals beating the odds, while a bald eagle exiting a cage represents the belated inclusion of the segregated units in the national narrative. grounded yet contemporary, this work calls for respect, representation, and inclusion for the service members of strictly segregated groups — Japanese-American (Nisei) and African American — who so valiantly served their country.
